Good Evening Buford Families:

The second week of school is almost complete, and both teachers and students are settling into a good routine. We really appreciate your support in making this happen for the students! Please continue to contact us if you have any questions or concerns, as we are here to help.

Tomorrow is Asynchronous Friday. It is important that students remember to engage with each of their classes before 1pm tomorrow to be considered present for classes. Logging in to the class, or submitting a class assignment, or communicating with a teacher are the ways a student can engage with their class in order to be marked present for attendance. Asynchronous assignments should be completed by the start of the next school week.

If your student is interested in participating in the Charlottesville Debate League this year, please look for information on their Language Arts teacher’s Canvas home page. If you have any questions about the CDL, please contact Mr. Herron for more information and a permission form.

As always, thank you for all of your support!

Good Afternoon Buford Families:

Attendance will be taken on Fridays for asynchronous learning.  In order for students to be marked present, students must do one of the following for each class:

  1. Log into Canvas to get the assignment for the class;
  2. Complete and submit an assignment;
  3. Meet or communicate with a teacher regarding assignments.

Students must engage with each course by 1:00pm each Friday during virtual learning.  Your student’s Friday schedule in PowerSchool will now show each class.

We apologize for any confusion and appreciate your patience and support.

Have a wonderful weekend!

Good Evening Buford Families:

Just a friendly reminder that all students will be completing work for their classes asynchronously tomorrow, meaning students will complete class assignments independently on Friday.  These assignments can be found in each of their class’ Canvas pages.  Teachers will be looking for students to submit work through Canvas each period.  This will be the expectation for each Friday.

Thank you, again, for your patience and support!

Have a good evening.

Good Evening Buford Families:

Today was a busy day, but overall it was a good start to the school year!  Students and teachers were excited to get back to the work of instruction and learning.  As we progressed through the day, we wanted to be sure to share some important bits of information.

Zoom and Chromebooks:  We noticed that many students had difficulties using Zoom today.  This app has been updated on student chromebooks.  Please allow Zoom to update, if prompted, when students try to log into Zoom for class meetings.

Internet Access:  If you do not have access to the internet, please contact the main office at 434-245-2411.

Library Services:  Please visit the Library Canvas page for information on how to access books during this time of virtual learning.  Guidelines for the library are:

  1. Students will not have physical access to the library.
  2. By the end of next week, a virtual library space will be located directly outside of the main office.
  3. Students, parents, and teachers will have direct access to the catalog.  Please see the Canvas page for instructions on checking out, picking up, and returning books.
  4. Parents/guardians/responsible adults may enter the building to pick up/drop off books – MASKS are MANDATORY at all times.
  5. Pick up hours and days are MONDAYS AND THURSDAYS from 9:00 – 3:00. Please email Mrs. Curry if additional times are needed.

Early Morning/Afternoon Health and Physical Education:  All students who were registered for early morning or afternoon HPE have been scheduled into Virtual HPE.  On the student’s schedule, it will look like the student will be enrolled in two classes during one class period.  If one of the periods says“VIR”, it means that the course is totally virtual.  Please visit the course Canvas page for more information.

Again, thank you for all of your support!  Together, we will make this year a success!
