What’s Happening at Buford Middle School

    Minds in Motion Team XXL performs at The Paramount Theatre

    The Minds in Motion Team XXL performed a dance at The Paramount Theater of Charlottesville as part of the TEDxCharlottesville event.  Team XXL is comprised of dancers from Walker Upper Elementary School and Buford Middle School who have auditioned to participate in the dance troupe.  Sponsored by the Richmond Ballet Rhythm in partnership with Charlottesville City Schools, Minds in Motion is offered in our elementary schools to all fourth graders and continues as an optional after-school program in the upper elementary and middle school.  Read more about all of our dance and theater options here.   • Buford middle school students visit the Smithsonian to present.

    Buford and Walker Fall 2017 Highlights

    Six Buford Middle School engineers traveled to the National Museum of American History in D.C.  At the Smithsonian, they ran a design challenge for CEOs and educational leaders. Brendan Martin and his students also presented their experiences and the tools they use, such as Seesaw and Trello.   • December 2016 Buford/Walker Highlights

    Eighth-grader Marco Lopez won the middle-school category of the Charlottesville Public Works’ “Imagine a Day without Water” art contest. Congratulations! Seventh-graders were able to enjoy a performance “Black Angels Over Tuskegee” at the Paramount Theatre, telling the story of the Tuskegee Airmen. The waiting list is long for Buford students who want to spend their lunch going to neighboring Johnson Elementary to help young friends read. The weekly program is so popular that a once-per-quarter limit has been implemented for Buford students.
