Employee Wellness Program

Employee Wellness Program

Partnering with You for Health

Charlottesville City Schools has several programs to promote the wellness of our employees:

Employee Assistance Program

The Employee Assistance Program through the University of Virginia  is a free, confidential resource to help address a range of personal issues.

Health Club Enrollment

Charlottesville City Schools encourages employee fitness by offering access to area health clubs at negotiated and subsidized rates. Employees who participate must visit their chosen gym eight times a quarter to stay eligible for the program.  Family members can be added to the plans. Enrollment/cancellation periods occur four times a year. For enrollment/cancellation forms, see our “Current Employees” page and click on “Wellness/Benefit Forms.”

Hike/Bike to Work Incentive

The hike/bike to work incentive is to encourage employees to walk or ride bicycles to work in order to improve individual wellness. We also hope to reduce vehicular traffic and reduce our carbon footprint. The program typically begins October 1 and culminates April 30.

Any full-time employee who walks/bikes to work at least 30 minutes in a week will be eligible to receive a stipend of $29.50 for the month. Employees who are at least half-time but are not full time are eligible for 50% of the $29.50 and are required to hike/bike 15 minutes per week.  For more information, see our “Current Employees” page and click on “Wellness/Benefit Forms.”

Mindfulness and Self-Care Programs

Charlottesville City Schools supports a variety of self-care strategies, including mindfulness training programs and  staff yoga classes. For more information, contact Paula Culver-Dickinson.
