Spring 2021: Energy & Water Conservation: Your New Normal
Charlottesville City Schools and the City’s Energy and Water Management Team are working together to reduce the energy and water footprint of all City schools. In 2019, the School Board approved an Energy and Water Performance resolution, showing a commitment to achieving and maintaining high performing school facilities. Continuing on past efforts, the City’s maintenance and development teams are specifying high efficiency building equipment, such as high-efficiency chillers and LED lighting, and are enhancing operational control through advanced building automation systems. MOREGreenbrierGEM team finishes third in area math competition
Congratulations to our Girls Excelling in Math team (GEM) for their third place finish in the hands-on challenge in the annual competition held each spring at The Village School. Led by coach Liz Petry, the team had to work together to build the tallest, free-standing tower out of recyclable materials that could hold up to six eggs. In addition to the hands-on challenge, there was a team paper-pencil math challenge and an individual paper-pencil challenge. Way to go Riley, Cici, Ellie, Alex, Ruby, Noura, callie, Eleanor, and Charlotte!

Greenbrier celebrated our fourth graders with the annual 4th Grade Moving Up Ceremony on June 5, 2020. This year’s virtual ceremony featured members of our fourth grade class that will be moving on to fifth grade as well as congratulatory messages and well-wishes from administrators, teachers and staff. The Walker Upper Elementary School school counselors are busy planning their annual visits to all city elementary schools to provide information and guidance to rising fifth graders.
