Summary of Recent School Board Business
At their March 3 meeting, the School Board affirmed that students would not make up any additional snow days beyond those described on the academic calendar. (April 1 is now a snow make-up day.) They heard information about the proposed health curriculum (available for public review). CHS senior Talia Wiener presented a plan for adding student representation to the School Board in 2015-16. In addition, they received reports on staff recruitment and compensation as well as student discipline/suspension rates (which have declined).
At their March 7 meeting with the Charlottesville City Council, the School Board presented its 2016-17 budget request. The Council will vote on a budget on April 12.
