ParentSquare

We use ParentSquare to keep families up to date with all that is going on with your child at school. Parents and guardians (plus CHS students) automatically receive a “daily digest” each day around 6pm with any updates from teachers, coaches, your principal, the PTO, or the school division.

You can also use ParentSquare to send or receive any direct messages with school staff. Plus, ParentSquare includes calendars, event sign-ups, and much more.

ParentSquare’s features include:

  • 2-way translation in more than 100 languages
  • safety alerts
  • attendance notifications (and a way for you to excuse absences)
  • a calendar and scheduling tool for meetings and conferences
  • a groups function for PTOs, sports/clubs, etc.
  • secure document delivery
  • and MORE in an easy-to-use, social-media-like interface

  • Parents and guardians automatically receive a 6pm “daily digest” via email and/or text using the information on file for your student(s).

But to adjust your settings and maximize the benefits, please visit parentsquare.com/signin and create your account with the email or phone number that is on file for your student(s) in our school records. We strongly encourage users to download the free app!

  • ParentSquare allows parents/guardians to customize their experience of receiving messages (email, text, and/or app notifications). Don’t want to receive a lot of notifications? The default setting is to receive one daily summary of notifications (with the exception of emergency notifications).

Emergency messages plus direct (individual) messages  will go to all families immediately regardless of your notification settings.

PowerSchool vs. Canvas?

  • PowerSchool contains grades and attendance. It’s the authoritative source for report cards. It also contains links to other tools like your child’s state testing results..
  • Canvas is a classroom resource. It contains assignments, hand-outs, links to resources, and more. It also shows grades. If the grades in Canvas and PowerSchool don’t match up, please ask your student or teacher.

More Canvas Information:

  • Teachers can post all their class content in one place, including a calendar for due dates, links to class resources like videos, posted homework assignments (and a drop-box for turning it in), etc.
  • Students can see all their assignments, due dates, and class materials  in one spot. They can turn in assignments and see teacher feedback and grades.
  • Parents can create accounts so they can get a glimpse into the classroom, see what assignments are in the works, keep an eye on due dates, etc.

PowerSchool

Here is the URL for students and families to access PowerSchool: cssis.powerschool.com/public

Teachers and staff log in via the OneLogin platform.

PowerSchool is an online tool to help schools, students, and families stay connected throughout the year. Create a PowerSchool parent portal account so you can check grades, attendance, and more. Make sure all of your students are added to your parent portal.

New PowerSchool Users

In mid-August, contacts of new students will receive an email with the access codes and passwords for their new students. If you need to create a new account and don’t have this information, call your school to learn the access codes and passwords for your student(s). Then use these instructions to create your account. Save your log-in information because you will want to return regularly to check grades, update how you receive messages from the schools, and more.

To Add a Child

To add a child to your existing account, call your school (see below) to learn the additional child’s access code/password. Then log in and click “Account Preferences,” then “Students,” then “Add.” Enter the student’s “access info.”
