Survey: Help us Plan the New Middle School!
Dear staff, families, STUDENTS, and community members–
Construction is underway to modernize Buford Middle School! The renovated school will be called Charlottesville Middle School, and it will serve grades 6-8 starting in Fall 2026. It's time to make some key decisions about how we want the inside of the school to look and feel for our students, staff, and visitors. Plus, let’s talk about the mascot!
So… do you want the wall graphics to be inspired by nature or shapes or images or murals or something else? Do you want the mascot to be Knight-related (like the Black Knights, the Young Knights, The Charge) or something completely different?
Take this survey and let us know! Answer as many questions as you wish. Buford and Walker students will take this survey at school. Any student is welcome to take the survey– elementary families, consider helping your student complete the survey! After all, our current 3rd-graders will be the first students to attend our modernized middle school as 6th-graders!
After the survey, then what?
A committee of staff, parents/guardians, and students will meet throughout November to help us interpret community feedback. This advisory group will help us make important decisions about the school's "architectural graphics" -- such as large-scale wall graphics and custom art features. These elements will contribute to the overall “look” and “feel” inside the school.
