Homebound

Homebound Instruction is designed to provide continuity in the educational program for students whose medical needs, both physical and psychological, preclude school attendance. Homebound instruction is available to all students with appropriate physician authorization.

504 Plans

Does your child have a disability but not require special education services? A 504 plan ensures that eligible students with an impairment receive reasonable accommodations and related services necessary for them to access school programs and activities. Examples include timing accommodations, presentation accommodations, response accommodations, setting accommodations.

Foster Care Liaison

Guide to Foster Care Resources in Virginia

The Foster Care Liaison assists students, families, and area social services departments with the “best interest determination” process and other situations unique to students in the foster care system.

For children registering under kinship care provisions, a notarized affidavit is required, as well as verification from the Department of Social Services.

Students Experiencing Homelessness

Charlottesville City Schools is committed to providing support for our students who are experiencing homelessness. The McKinney-Vento Law ensures that students in temporary living situations have the resources necessary to obtain a successful education. When possible, students are allowed to attend the same school that he/she attended prior to being identified as homeless.

 

Registration for students who may be experiencing homelessness is supported by a school mental health professional at each school.
