Charlottesville City Schools does not maintain a separate foundation to support our schools. Recognizing that the greater community of Charlottesville and Albemarle County work together to support our respective school divisions, Charlottesville City Schools is proud to benefit from the joint Public Education Foundation of Charlottesville-Albemarle.

“Founded in 2004, the Public Education Foundation of Charlottesville-Albemarle is a community-based nonprofit organization established to improve the quality of teaching and learning in Charlottesville and Albemarle County public schools.  The PEF Innovation Institute will encourage, develop and showcase the work of teachers who are interested in using leading edge techniques and technology to improve instructional practices and reimagine teaching and learning. The Institute will provide collaborative environments where teachers, school counselors and administrators can partner with the public and private sector through education incubators and externships to research and develop new teaching concepts, curricula and tools, so that all students have the education necessary for full participation in the economic, civic, and cultural life of our society. The Public Education Foundation believes that strong public schools are critical to Charlottesville and Albemarle County’s viability and that the community must take action to ensure their success. By acting as a bridge between the community and the classroom, the Public Education Foundation increases the availability and impact of resources for students and teachers throughout our public schools.” — Public Education Foundation
