Emma Sutphin Named Division Teacher of the Year

Congratulations to Emma Sutphin, a sixth-grade teacher at Walker Upper Elementary School and this year’s Charlottesville City Schools Division Teacher of the Year. Ms. Sutphin will represent the division in the state-wide Mary V. Bicouvaris Virginia Teacher of the Year Program.

Ms. Sutphin was honored at the School Board meeting on Thursday evening alongside the 10 other school teachers of the year:

  • Briana “Bree” Barns, Third Grade Teacher, Greenbrier Elementary School 
  • Jessica Cao, Second Grade Teacher, Jackson-Via Elementary School 
  • Kelly Farr, Second Grade Teacher, Summit Elementary School 
  • Laura Shea, First Grade Teacher, Sunrise Elementary 
  • Hilary Bradley, Special Ed Pre-K Teacher, Tall Oaks Elementary 
  • Michaela Atkins, Special Education Teacher, Trailblazer Elementary School 
  • Anthony Smith, Student Support Teacher, CATEC High School 
  • Nick Liles, History Teacher, Lugo-McGinness Academy
