Cville Schools on normal schedule

Dear Charlottesville City Schools staff and families,

With the news of an emergency situation at a Waynesboro elementary school this morning, we are writing to let you know that we are in contact with the Charlottesville Police Department and that there is no threat to Charlottesville City Schools. We will continue with normal operations today and will let you know if anything changes.

As a reminder, school safety is Charlottesville City Schools’ top priority, and staff are trained to evaluate and respond to potential disturbances. Our comprehensive school safety model emphasizes:

• Community-building and relationship-building

• Mental health supports

• Highly trained safety staff, including School Resource Officers (SROs)

• Continual investment in building and security upgrades
