To address unsafe street conditions during student arrival and dismissal, the City of Charlottesville has installed school zone speed cameras at Charlottesville Middle School (formerly Buford), Summit, and Tall Oaks (formerly Johnson). At the start of the year, cameras started monitoring for speeding violations during arrival and dismissal. Initially, warnings were given to motorists; as of Monday, September 8, citations will be issued.
