CHARLOTTESVILLE CITY SCHOOLS
NOTICE OF ELECTION FOR EXCLUSIVE REPRESENTATIVE FOR THE SCHOOL
SUPPORT PROFESSIONALS BARGAINING UNIT UNDER THE
SCHOOL BOARD RESOLUTION FOR COLLECTIVE BARGAINING
IN CHARLOTTESVILLE CITY PUBLIC SCHOOLS

Pursuant to the School Board Resolution For Collective Bargaining In Charlottesville City Public Schools (the “Resolution”), the Undersigned was retained by the Charlottesville City Public Schools (“CCS”), with the agreement of the Charlottesville Education Association (“CEA”), to serve as Labor Relations Administrator and verify whether the request made by CEA for an election to certify CEA, for purposes of collective bargaining, as the Exclusive Representative of the School Support Professionals Bargaining Unit was supported by a majority (50 percent plus 1) of the employees in that bargaining unit.

CEA has demonstrated majority support within the School Support Professionals Bargaining Unit. Consistent with the Resolution, the School Support Professionals Bargaining Unit will proceed to a secret ballot representation election. The election will be held via an electronic voting system. Voting is scheduled to begin on Tuesday, March 26, 2024 at 6:00 a.m. Eastern and to conclude on Thursday, March 28, 2024 at 6:00 p.m. Eastern.

Other employee associations may seek to intervene in the representation election and be included on the election ballot. Requests for intervention must be filed with the Clerk of the School Board, Julia Green, at greenj1@charlottesvilleschools.org within seven days from the date of this Notice. A request to intervene shall include (1) the employee association’s name and address, (2) a description of the bargaining unit(s) it seeks to represent, (3) a statement certifying that a majority of the employees in the School Support Professionals Bargaining Unit wish to be represented by the employee association, and (4) that the intervenor wishes to be included on the secret ballot. A putative intervenor may be required to demonstrate that 30 percent of the employees in a bargaining unit wish to be represented by the intervenor. If an employee association successfully intervenes, a new Notice shall be provided to employees and the public pursuant to Section 4(A)(3) of the Resolution.

Questions regarding this representation election may be directed to the Labor Relations Administrator at ElectionNeutral@laborarbitration.com.
